How Long does a TEAS V score last?

Published

Hi Allnurses!

I've been lurking for about 2 years now and am ready to post! If all goes well (ie I get into my last 2 classes) I will be finished with my prerequisites in December of this year. One of the nursing programs I am planning on applying to is Los Angeles County and they require that you take the TEAS V. They also give you bonus admision "points" for a high score. Does anybody know how soon I should plan on taking the test? Are the scores only good for a certain period of time? The last 2 classes I have to take are Anatomy (this summer) and Phisiology (this fall). Should I wait until I've taken both of these classes to take the TEAS V? I've taken Chem, Bio, and Micro.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

What my institution told me was that it will not expire until a newer version is brought out.

I'm not sure how long TEAS scores last; I suspect each institution makes up their own rules on that. However, I do think it's a good idea to take A&P before you take the test. I did my TEAS in March and there were a decent number of questions in the science section on A&P topics. I had to guess at a couple because I'm just finishing A&P II now, and hadn't studied the respiratory and digestive systems when I took the test. It's not really that bad of a test. I think most of us just stress over it because the stakes are so high. Good luck!

Thank you both for your responses. I will look for test dates near the end of December / beginning of January. I will be finishing Physio in December and then will take the TEAS V asap before all the knowledge seeps out of my head and I go into waiting list mode :p
