We have to do a total of 96 hours. I chose 12 hr shifts over three weeks time, and just got my preceptor's shedule. I have to work Thanksgiving and the day after! But I'll be on a cardiac ICU/stepdown unit, which is where I wanted to be, so no complaints.
Originally, our school only had a two week preceptorship, but previous classes also had a final clinical performance eval (some other instructor watches us and passes or fails us) but thankfully, the school has dropped that for the seniors. (we're the first class to benefit) but we do have an extra week of preceptorship now. I'm ok with that, even though it means my paycheck will be slim to nothing, since I won't be working at my regular job more than one day a week during that time.
I'm still so excited I could burst!

What semester are you in?
We do two 12-hour shifts per week x 11 weeks in our final semester before preceptorship a.k.a. pregrad where we are required to work 600 hours over 16 weeks in order to graduate. If you are saying that you only need to work 96 hours in your pregrad experience, what school do you go to? Wow, just think how much faster I'd get to a pay check!

I'm in my final semester and they divided it into 2. We had 'clinical hours' with preceptors and our professor for 10hrs 3x per week for 6 weeks. And now we are all on our own with a preceptor for 156 hours. I think we total around 300+ hours total our final semester.
My preceptor likes working 4-6 days straight. Whoo hoo, mini vacation for me :)
That's if I get through it all though....

We go 5 weeks with a minimum of 36 hours a week. I'm on 12 hour nights - yuck! but don't have to work Thanksgiving - yay!!
I'm in the last semester (last 5 weeks) of a 2 yr ADN program in Bradenton, FL. Wow, you guys have a LOT more preceptorship time than we do! And here I was complaining about three weeks! Actually, I am looking forward to the preceptorship experience, I'm just going to be so broke as a result, and considering that is the weeks before Christmas, AND having to come up with money for NCLEX and review classes, I'm thinking the timing kind of sucks. But I'll make it through!
