Hi All!
I've been lurking around this website ever since I started my prerequisites for nursing school. I finally decided to make an account today, after finding out that I had passed NCLEX.
A Little background information: I graduated on November 21st, 2016. I was a pretty "average" student. I received all B's and one C in school. I started preparing for NCLEX a couple months into the nursing program ( 2 year, ADN). I think this is what really helped me! I made sure to do at least 20 questions a day on top of the other hours I studied.
My main source of studying was U World. I bought the month membership ( about $59) around a week before graduating. I did all 1900 questions and achieved an overall score of 68%. I read every rationale whether I got the question right or wrong.
I also used the RN mastery app. (Costs about $40) I completed all of the questions on this app, as well, with almost the same percentage as U World. Again, I read every rationale.
I made studying my full time job for the weeks leading up to NCLEX. I studied for about 6-7 hours a day.
NCLEX: The night before the test I tried my best to relax and keep my anxiety to a minimum. The morning of the exam I took a nice long shower, ate a good breakfast, and drove to my testing site. ( I did NOT look at any notes the day of my test!). I was scheduled to test at 10:15 and I was on my way home before 11:00. My test shut off at 75 questions and I was CERTAIN that I failed. I did try the "PVT trick" as soon as I got home, and I got the good pop up. I anxiously waited until I could get my quick results (48 hours) and I was so relieved to see that I had passed!
My biggest advice for anyone taking the test soon is to just BREATHE. You have taken many tests in school, and this is NO different!!! Really review your basic material and practice, practice, practice!!!
I start my dream job on the 3rd of January and I couldn't be more excited!
I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but I know reading success stories really helped me! If you really dedicate yourself, you can conquer the NCLEX! Good luck to all the future test takers! Please feel free to comment with any questions!
