How I passed nclex 1st try after 2 yrs of graduation

Published

Hey Guys, here i am. Through out my preparation i use to chk All nurses blog religiously and multiple time in a day i have read mostly all of the post i must say i have memorized few of the stories :p

I did my bscn in south Asia in mid 2013. I also did 1 yr internship there. since last two months i was preparing for NCLEX. Many people say that you needs to follow your plan and stick to that . Though i made plan but I was bit lazy to study and follow.

I was good at content and patho physiology in school but becuase its been 2 years i thought to brush my content again. so at first i thought to start with saunders comprehensive soon i realized it was taking for ever to review. So instead i bought Hurst review.

1. suanders( Finished 40 %content)

2. Saunders CD ( did around 500 questions)

3. Hurst review was good but soon realized it is something i already know nothing new for me and as i said i was very lazy to study i complete my whole online review in 3 weeks ( one can finish in 5 days).

4. nclex 3500. did around 1000 question

5. PDA LA charity all 21 chapters and two case studies

And than decided to schedule an exam. only date avialable was after 30 days. So i had enough time to practice now.

I.. did 3 q reviews from Hurst .. didnt perform well. i did more worst in last 3 than 1st three. I found Kaplan Qtrainer online for free .. i solved 1-4 and than 5and 6 about two weeks before exam and 7 on a day before exam.. I read rationals of every wrong and right answers.

6. read about 20 pages of 35 page study guide

few days before i was very nervous and thought to reschedule. but again after reading all nurses thought to give a shot..

I found 1st question so difficult that i spend almost 5 minutes on it. i had no clue and i got more anxious... there were many pharma question ( i am weak at) most of meds were new for me. scheduled break popup showed up when i was in 50's which i didnt take .. I was very slow. Stil i took 2 breaks unscheduled one as anxiety was drying my mouth. My brain dot numb i was feeling devastated. I hardly got 5-6 SATA. 2 ECG questions one Maths questions. few questions were very straight. after like 60's i realized i know the answers most were prioritization i regained my confidence and my speed improved. After 3 hours i was some where at 90's and i dont know at what my screen got blue but it was in 90's. I was confused how to react. cried on my way home :p after 2 hours did PVT got good pop same after 24 hours and got my results yesterday ... I passed

Thanks for support

Congratulations to you. I was thinking to take my nclex-rn too.what review material would you recommend should I used? Thanks

It dpends on your weakness and strengths.. if ur weak in content than in books saunders and in reviews Hurst and Remar is good ( according to me) if are weak in stretegies and solving questions than KAplan is good instaed of buying whole kaplan u can buy kaplan stretegic book and q bank.

CONGRATULATION! :nurse:

I don't care how many of these type post I read I always tear up, with tears of joy! In hopes one day soon I will successfully tell my story.
