I'm 3 months into my orientation as a surgical ICU nurse and I feel like I'm nowhere near where I should be at this point in time; I've been using my days off to periodically memorize my critical care medicines, ACLS protocols, and familiarize myself with common emergencies, but I don't feel like any of that has been helping me in practice. I wish I could work more than just a couple shifts a week to rapidly accumulate that experience I know I need to be a good nurse, but extra shifts aren't offered for me at this time. Is there anything more that I should be doing? I'm frustrated...

Knowing and doing can be different. Is there a nurse you trust on the floor that can give you honest and constructive feedback?
How much orientation do you have left? ICU as a new grad is tough.
