How to Get Accepted to NP Fellowships?

I realize that NP Fellowships are few, far between and competitive. I wanted to know if anyone who has been accepted to this fellowships, what set your application apart? What recommendations for these fellowships? Besides GPA, what would work in my favor? Joining professional organizations? Volunteering?

I am looking at Carolinas Health NP Fellowship (now Atrium Health) for Cardiology. Also I am concerned since my program is an online program that would work against me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
