Hello~
I am in Illnois, north central about 2 hrs from Chicago. I am trying to find an NRP class offered to non-employees. I am having a very hard time! I checked the NRP/AAP site, and there is only one place listed, 3.5 hrs away from me in Iowa. I have checked Chicago hospital websites, and I am only finding classes listed for employees or classes given infrequently (sometimes only once a year). Does anyone have any tips on finding a place that will give the class for a non-employee? I need the whole class, my cert lapsed when I was on pregnancy bedrest (go figure).
Thanks!

Instead of checking the website, you might want to actually call the hospital education dept or the NM of the Ob/Gyn/Nursery and speak with him/her in person. Sometimes they are willing to bend a little if they know your situation. Can't make any promises as I don't live out that way but it's worth a shot if you haven't done that.

Check the teaching hospitals nearby. They will often allow non-employees if there are spaces in the class. I have no idea what they charge though.

I would try contacting local Colleges of Nursing with gradute programs. I am in one now (UIC) and we offer NRP to students, I bet they would let you in.
I went to The Farm to take NRP. It was a great trip but a big investment for NRP, I just wanted the ambience. Good luck.
Thanks, everyone!
I actually did make some calls (all day!) yesterday to see if anyone was willing. CEG I even called UIC, I am waiting for Cheryl to call me back on that. I'm waiting for a lot of calls today. But I did find a few places that say they will offer to non-employees, just waiting to see if anyone has space.
Thanks again!
