How do you excell at peer interviews as a new nurse?

Nurses New Nurse

I have just got my license as a RN. Starting Monday, I applied to a job a day. On Wednesday only after 3 hours of submitting my application I was called in for an interview. The hospital is a magna facility. I have over ten years CNA and five years certified medication aid with advanced nasogastric. I have never been to an interview like this with a group of educated, trained professionals asking me questions. What are they going to ask? does the way I look matter? Is honesty always the best policy? My peers bombed several interviews prior to getting the job. I really think this job could be a great learning experience and it is a wonderful Hospital. I want the job! any advice?

Congratulations! Just dress as you would for any interview and go in as relaxed and confident as you can. Be super honest that you know you are a graduate RN. Focus on the idea that there are no bad habits to train you out of and they can train you to their protocols.

That is True we haven't developed bad habits. A handful of my peers have gone on these interviews and bombed! they didn't get the first job. I have been told to pause and think about my response to each question. I have a backup interview scheduled at another facility. One of my peers finally landed the NICU job of her dreams after 30 interviews. I found a post with possible questions but I still after reading them feel unprepared. I have reviewed the facility and know the questions I want to ask. I was actually wanting to know if anyone has been involved in these and what you thought of some qualified candidates responses that made them undesirable?

I read some of those I don't think I could ever do that bad! Thank you so much for your post! I just want to be prepared! I was thinking I may say umm... or stutter though a shock or code question. I am great on one on one interviews but have never sat in front of a group basically judging every word from my mouth. I pray that I am clear in my responses. I am sorry to say this but I hope I am up against someone like that for this position. I feel a little inadequate as a new grad and hope only new grads applied. The competition for these positions intimidates me. I really want the experience and to learn as much as I can, develop solid routine and confidence in my patient care. Again Thank You so much NurseOnAMotorcycle for helping me with my confidence which is hard for new grads!
