How would you cope with a fire bomb threat in your ICU ?

I live & work in South Africa , & am currently looking for ideas to do a masters thesis on . I had thought on doing it on "The safety of patients whilst evacuating an ICU during an emergency situation."

What evacuation plans are set in your hospitals ? Do you think that they would work ? , and why do you think that they would work .

Any ideas you might have would be much appreciated .

I work in a small(80 bed)hospital. We have a 6 bed ICU unit. In the past two years, we have twice evacuated the entire building due to bomb threats. We have the convenience of having 5 nursing homes in our town that we transported to. We have had no ventilator patients with either evacuation. We do have agreements with these extended care facilities to receive patients during need to evacuate. QUOTE]Originally posted by joybelle:
