How competitive are nyc nursing schools?

Born and raised in queens, but the last ten years I've been living in so-cal. I'm finally going back home. But wondering if I should stay here and do my lpn to RN in California or if I should just move now and do my lpn to RN in nyc. Just how competitive is it right now ?

I can't speak to CA vs NY competitiveness but I've had a great experience in NY. Can you just go straight to RN in a two year program?
