The LPN program is still pretty competitive. True, it is less than the RN but don't let the LPN fool you, it is a lot of work. I currently am in the LPN program and I don't want to scare you but it is honestly the hardest thing I have ever done. It is a lot of work and if you are willing to give up time and your life for long haul of the program you will do great. If you have a life in the program you are doing it wrong. I am being honest and not trying to sugar coat what it is like. I have managed to stick with it and be successful thus far and I have 4 little ones ranging in age from 6 to 4, so it is doable. The past grades will not come back to bite you, you did do a huge improvement and that is great! My advice to you is to not get discouraged or over analyze things, just keep going one step at a time, it will all work out in due time. If being a nurse is what you want to do, don't give up on it. I wish you all the best and hope that everything works out for you.

I am currently attending Ivy Tech with hopes of being accepted into the nursing program. I had a very rough first semester, and did poorly. I got a D in Anatomy 101 and had to drop my English class. I retook those and two other classes the following semesters and received all A's and one B. A huge improvement obviously. However, will my first semester grades come back to haunt me? I know the LPN program isn't quite as competitive as the RN program, but how competitive is it? What are my chances of being accepted? If I dont have much of a chance, what are some other alternative careers that Ivy Tech offers degrees for? I was looking into dental hygiene just in case, but is that just as competitive? Thank you.
