If you get a rejection letter from a PERSON (ie not an automated do not respond letter). Respond, ask them to reconsider, cite 2 reasons you are fabulous, and attach your resume, and 2 letters of recommendation

I had the same problem when I graduated. It took me a year to find a job and then found a job in mental health which I had no intention of ever going into. My background is women's health!! I was working for a company as a relief direct care staff member and when one of the nurses decided to leave, they asked me to fill in. I was then hired as a group home nurse and a day hab nurse for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Keep looking. Network as much as possible. I really think these days it's more about who you know! If you know ANYONE who can get you a foot in the door, take it! Once you have a year or so under your belt, then try moving on to something else if you want.
It does seem the mental health field is an easier field these days.
Good luck!
