New nursing student here, and I'm really struggling to get good grades on my nursing tests and I think I'm studying wrong. Instead of using flashcards how should I be studying to get As on my tests? or at least bs. Right now I'm just getting cs. I need to get bs on both my next tests to pass and I want to do really well!

How do you study? If you study to memorize, then that may be where the Cs come from.
Try studying to understand the material and not just memorize it. Understanding the material in nursing school is especially important when it comes to applying the information to test questions.
For example, if I'm not learning something, it's because I don't understand it. To understand it, I watch YouTube videos, Google explanations, ask my professor, etc. Suddenly it all clicks because understanding it has allowed me to KNOW it - so no memorizing.
I do memorize things like lab values but again, explaining to myself what happens when that value gets too low or too high helps me to understand and know it which makes recall that much easier. Hope this helps.

I agree. Nursing school is all about critical thinking and applying knowledge. Very few test questions will require you to regurgitate facts. Most test question will give you a scenario and will require you to think about what your nursing action should be. There are things you will need to remember, such as acceptable lab value ranges, but you will have to apply that knowledge of scenarios. While flash cards can help, you need to keep in mind the nursing process and how that information is utilized.
