Hours worked at Davita

I started with Davita about 6 months ago and on a regular basis we (the new RNs) will work a 15-16 hrs day (6am to whatever) and have to come back in the next morning for another 13-15hrs day (6am to whatever). We might be lucky to get 5 hrs of sleep. I find this to be very very unsafe as we are not working with objects but with human beings. Is this normal everywhere? There is no law that states they are not allowed to do this but I can't believe this is normal.
