I got into the OR as new grad only because I had done a peri operative course which included 160 clinical hrs in the OR. This helped tremendously bc I was able to show them I had a sincere interest, that I was a fast learner, and that I had a good work ethic. Also they like to see how you mesh w/ the OR staff. So I would definitely encourage you to take a course that requires clinical time in the OR. That clinical time also helps you realize if its truly what you want to do.

Hi thank you for replying. Where did you enroll for the perioperative course? Thank you so much.

The course was offered through my local state college. Check the colleges in your area....and check the hospitals, too.

Hello this topic intrigued me so much. What I want to know? Is there a special international training in nursing operations in the United Kingdom? Either by hospitals or educational centers such as universities? Is there a hospital accepts volunteers from any country?
