Hi Iam not a new grad, I worked in the philippines for 2.5 years as medical surgical nurse and now im considering to start my career here in Los angeles as an OR nurse. All hospitals I know want to have a nurse with OR experience. Im thinking maybe they can consider my application if i have an OR training course. Please help me. Thank you so much.[/quote']I got into the OR as new grad only because I had done a peri operative course which included 160 clinical hrs in the OR. This helped tremendously bc I was able to show them I had a sincere interest, that I was a fast learner, and that I had a good work ethic. Also they like to see how you mesh w/ the OR staff. So I would definitely encourage you to take a course that requires clinical time in the OR. That clinical time also helps you realize if its truly what you want to do.
