Hello fellow CNAs
i was just curious for those of you who work at hospitals what a typical day is like? what do you usually do?
also what are some diff between med/surg and progressive care, in terms of what you do as a CNA?
as you can probably tell i am new to this!

Our day at the hospital... This does not include answering call lights and making more hourly rounds, getting new admits, discharges, codes, etc.
0600 - Arrival, making report sheets
0610 - Receiving report
0620 - 1 PCT does EKG's, the other 2 do Accuchecks (bedside bloodsugars)
0700 - Start doing vital signs/Accuchecks, write our name on the blackboards in the rooms and sign the sheets for our hourly rounds.
0800 - Report the vital signs to the nurses and receive report from the nurses, who can shower, etc.
0830 - Give one earlybird a shower/bedbath
0900 - Go for 15 minute breakfast break
0915 - Pick up trays. Do another 3 showers/bedbaths
1100 - Start doing vital signs again.
1130 - Report vital signs to nurses.
1145 - Make sure every patient has their lunch tray and everything they need.
1200 - Chart morning vital signs in chart, chart on Nurses notes.
1230 - Go around and pick up the trays. Write down I&O's.
1300 - Go for 30 minute lunch break.
1330 - Finish doing showers, usually another 3-4.
1530 - Start doing vital signs/Accuchecks again.
1600 - Report vital signs to nurses.
1610 - Sit down for a couple of minutes!!!
1630 - Make sure everybody receives their dinner tray.
1640 - Finish charting in the Nurses Notes about showers and ADLs.
1700 - Start picking up trays and finish writing on the I&O sheet. Then start charting I&O's in the chart.
1800 - Night shift arrives. Give report.
1830 - Go home!
