Hello,
I'm wanting to hear from hosptial educated RN's from the SW Ohio region. I have been accepted by both Christ Hospital and Good Samaritan in Cincinnati. Sometimes I hear comments about hospital educated RN's in a negative way. I'm a 2nd career soon to be student and the hospital education is faster for me since I'm almost 40. The programs at the hospitals are associate degrees, I'm confused as why they would not be viewed positively in other RN's eyes. I have heard that hospital educated RN's have better clinical skills than university educated Rn's. Please feel free to give me your insight on this topic.

I graduated from Good Sam over 6 years ago and have had never had anyone say anything negative about my education. In fact, as you mentioned, I felt as if my clinical skills were better off the bat than BSN program new grads that started when I did. In this area, the pay rate tends to be the same whether you are an ADN or BSN. Also when choosing between schools, you definately want to look into the NCLEX pass rates for the schools. When I was in school, GS beat the pants off of TCH in NCLEX scores, but that may have changed since then.
HTH,
