Hospice CEUs?

I am a certified hospice and palliative nurse and my certification is going to expire this December if I don't get recertified by then.

When I first got certified four years ago, it was easier because it was an exam. Now they have changed it and to recertify you have to accummulate a composite of things: a situational judgement exam, scholarly accomplishments, professional contributions, and continuing education. You don't need to have all of these, just 120 combined points from any of them. Scholarly accomplishments and professional contributions have more to do with clinical leadership/teaching/management, and I am just your basic hospice nurse so I haven't acquired anything in those areas. I passed the situational judgement exam, which is worth 20 points, and I have accrued 32 CEUs in hospice continuing ed. The lady at the HPCC office told me that the vast majority of hospice nurses accrue theirs through the SJE and continuing ed only, which is what I will need to do.

Basically where I am at now is that I have to find a way to get 68 additional hospice CEUs by the end of October, since the minimum number of points needed to recert is 120.

Does anyone know of any hospice CEU courses that offer a high number of CEUs? I can find plenty that offer 1-2 CEUs, but I'm looking for some similar to the one on death and bereavement that I took from Western Schools that is worth 30 CEUs. I don't mind paying for it, and I don't mind if it's time consuming, I just need to accrue 68 CEUs in two months...yikes!

I have worked so hard full-time in hospice nursing over the past few years that I wish that work experience would count for points, because working long hours is basically why I'm in this predicament in the first place, because I've been pressed for time and did not work continuously on my CEUs over the past few years.

Any suggestions are welcome.

What did you end up doing? We have a couple of nurses in that same position. Very difficult to obtain the points. However, I do believe it is 100 points. Not 120.
