I was thinking it'd be more valuable to just work as a clinical tech instead of doing all of this research, that way I actually get some exposure to the ICU.
I worked as a nurse tech in the ICU at a Level II trauma center during nursing school & it was great experience. As soon as I graduated I was hired into the unit without even going through a internship because they had taught me all along what they wanted me to know...they just molded me the way they wanted me. It was great too. By the time I graduated nursing school I already had great experience putting in IV's, drawing blood, inserting NGT's and foleys, drawing ABG's, etc. I highly recommend it.

My nursing school is really pushing this honors in the major program where you write a huge research paper. They're making it sound like it's pivotal to do this if you want to go to grad school. I loathe researching with a passion, but if this means the difference between an extra year of working, I might consider it.
What do you guys think?
Thanks,
