Hey all . . . how you guys doing?
Im Erich from the United Kingodm and am currently working as a team leader/nurse manager in North London. Here in the UK we are classified as "district nurses". We cater to patients/clients who are homebound and are not able to get to your doctors (GP - General Practitioneer). We have the NHS over here (national health service), what that means is, everyone have free access to health - be it treatment, consulatation, and others. Clients we mainly see are elderly, post of patients, palliative care clients, catheter care, Peg feed, diabetes care, COPD care, and other challenging but charming individuals that needs treatment at home!
Well I have been reading what you guys have been describing about the nature of your job . . .its pretty similar but I dont know how your system work and your job description.
Nursing here doenst look promising. I have specialised in tissue viability, leg ulcer, palliative care, and have recently taken extended nurse prescribing and finished my introduction to my Masters/MBa. The good thing here in Britain is that they pay for your further education, regardless of its a degree, masters, or doctorate plus we have a substntial amount of paid holiday . .this year I have more than 40 days:spin:
Well what I was gonna ask you guys are some information about your community nursing. This home health nursing are they same as the visiting nurses?
I am planning to move there . .well in CA if I can and I know it takes time as some of my mates (friends) have already moved in CA and it can take at least 2 years to sort things out. But for the time being I need to know whats the best way to do it . . .Needless to say I, I am attracted by the financial rewards america has to offer. Also career progression, and last but not the least. . .the love for the job;)
I will appreciate any information that any of you can give . . .
PS Anyone from CA who can share me some insight as to what to do and the nature of your home health nursing/visiting nurses
Cheers all and have a great day!
