Home health/LTC in Las Vegas/Henderson area

U.S.A. Nevada

Hi,

I am a new grad RN wanting to relocate to the Las Vegas/Henderson area from AZ. I have applied to all the hospitals around the area and of course they are not hiring "new grads." So my question is can someone please recommend a good home health agency or long term care facility in the Las Vegas/Henderson area?

Thanks so much!

That sounds really odd that they would flat out say they aren't hiring new grads. I grew up in Las Vegas and many of my friends who have graduated with a BSN from UNLV have been hired at many of the local hospitals very shortly after graduation. Did they actually say that they wouldn't consider a new grad?

Oh yea flat out "we are not hiring any new grads at this time" in some form or another from every hospital I have applied to in the area. One of the questions they ask is to check the box of how many years of RN experience you have, once you check the box of 0-1yrs it automatically disqualifies you. Its pretty bad. Which is why I am trying to get my 1yr of experience in either home health or LTC.

You can forget home health too. They want 6mo.-1yr. experience minimum. Their thinking is that you will be in a home situation, with no one to turn to, in case you need assistance or have a question. In the hospital setting there is support when a new grad needs it. Believe me, I've already tried to go that route. I'm a new grad and frustrated too!!! Good luck!
