Hey guys. Long time reader, first time poster. This question is actually for my husband (he is working but this is bothering me so I came here myself) ? My specialty has always been neurosurgical so I can't help him and wanted to see if you guys know the answers!
My husband has been a RN for three years. He specializes in substance abuse. He has always worked in an inpatient, residential setting.
He has been looking around for another gig for extra income. I have been extremely ill since March 2017. As a result I have not worked since then either. I could write a case study on me. That will be in another post. ?
He offered a position at a different company for concierge in-home substance abuse detox. How the heck does this work and what is involved? He has been researching but found very little information from the nurse's perspective. The assignments are on average five days.
* what kind of shifts do you work? 12 hours back and forth with another nurse?
*if 24 hours ATC, how do sleeping arrangements work? Food? Will family members be there?
*addicts can get very creative about hiding their drug(s) of choice. At an inpatient level, they are of course searched upon arrival. I don't see how this can be done at an in-home level.
*Compensation: we live in South Florida. He was offered $45 per hour. Is this reasonable? He currently makes $32 per hour.
*process for obtaining detox and comfort meds. Are they ordered ahead of time and the nurse brings them? Do they have a pharmacy deliver them to the house upon assessment?
*any other information?
If I think of anything other questions I'll update this post. Thank you so much.
