Highschool Student Asking Advice

Published

Hi. I am 16 years old and am hoping to study nursing when I graduate highschool. I am interested in Pediatric E.R., NICU, and Pediatric Trauma Center. I'm interested in either finding a job or volunteer position near me this school year. I am in the metro DC area, and near several large hospitals. I'm homeschooled, so my schedule can be flexible. I would appreciate advice from anyone with any experience. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and reply!

Hi there! I'm a pre-nursing student at MC and my advice would be to get either volunteer work or try doing an EMS program. I know when I was in high school you could be a junior member at a fire department and become an EMT/FF.

I'm currently getting my per-requisites and taking a CNA class. I think you have to be 18 to do it, otherwise I would recommend doing the same.

Good luck in your journey! Nursing is a very demanding job so make sure you get some experience so you know if it's something you really want to do!:)
