HH weekend triage nurse

Published

Hello,

I am a nurse of 5 years, most recently working on L&D but just had a baby myself and wanted something more flexible to raise my babies. Came across a “weekend triage nurse” role for a Private HH company in our area. According to them I’d be yielding all patient calls from Friday to Monday and triaging them and either sending a nurse out or going out myself sometimes. Pay is 32/hr salary. Our county isn’t that large and they said sometimes there are very few calls a weekend and other weekends there are many calls. All work can be done from my home aside from necessary visits and Off Monday thru Friday afternoon to be with children.

my question is has anyone ever done a position like this? While having kids? Did you regret working every weekend? Or being on call in this case. If you worked every weekend with kids did you feel you missed out on things?

also generally how does the position sound to other nurses?

thanks

Forgot to add it’s considered full time and pays for 40 hrs for being on call from Friday at 4pm to Monday at 8am

Would you be responsible for all SOCs and ROCs on Saturday and Sunday? If this is part of the job then you won't be working from home. You will likely be out seeing patients all weekend. Ask about how many nurses are on call in addition to you triaging. Ask for an average of how many calls came in on the weekend for the last 8 weeks and how many resulted in the triage nurse going out.
