Hello. I am new to this site. I am needing some help because I am completely lost on what the HESI Test is all about. I just went to a nursing seminar for a college in my area and they had informed us that before we could start classes we had to take the HESI test and then be in the top 30% in order to get picked for the classes. I have looked and looked to find out what I need to study for this test. I know I should of asked when I was at the seminar but when the seminar was over and I was allowed to ask questions there was a really long line and I couldn't wait because I had to get home to my 9 month old son to let the babysitter leave. Anyways. I was wondering if someone could please tell me what I need to study for, whats in the test, and where can I get the books and the study material to prepare myself for the test. Also if anyone can give me some other pointers on how to handle this please do so. Thank you.

every school does their HESI test differently. But i have never heard of using a HESI test in order to pick your classes. Hesi Testing can either be done by category, aka: pediatric, medsurge etc. But in my case my Hesi test was a combination of similiar to the NCLEX of general nursing. My siggestion to you would be to just focus on the basics and medsurge. They do have Hesi study guide books that can help you prepare. Best of luck!

Are you already in nursing school? In one of the programs I'm looking at HESI score is part of the application - i.e. pre-admission testing. For this program they use HESI to test math, english, reading and vocab. This particular school doesn't don't include the science portion of the test but I have read here that other schools do so this varies and you should call the school to confirm which version you will be tested on. I ordered my study guide here - http://www.hesitest.com/ - you can also get it on amazon and/or the school bookstore may carry it.
