HESI A2 reading comprehension/vocab/grammar

Published

Taking the HESI A2 next Thursday. I am required to take the math, reading, and English portions. Any insight on the reading comprehension part? Is it easy? I feel good about the rest, but there isn't really anything on the web that would be good for studying reading comp. Thank you.

It is very basic dont stress over it. The HESI book has the format of the questions such as What does the author mean, trying to convey, what does this word mean in this sentence. Take your time and relax

Thank you! I took the hesi this last week and got a 95% on the reading part..very easy haha.

Is the reading comprehension section really as easy as it is in the Evolve Admission Assessment study guide? Also how many paragraphs are there?

Hi guys, Im studying for the Hesi for UT....I see a lot of yall say that yall took the chem and bio part of the Hesi. When you take those parts do they count for the grade or do they omit it?

Another question is about the Critical Thinking part, what are some of the questions that might be on that portion?

I did not study any material (besides review on math) and got a 95% on the reading comprehension. I think there were 55 questions and each short passage had 3-4 questions. My school did not require me to take the science portion so i dont have any information regarding that, sorry. As far as critical thinking, its testing you on common sense knowledge as a nurse. I had a lot of questions like this:

You are taking care of 4 patients:

patient 1 has a kidney infection and is complaining of a lot of blood in his urine.

patient 2 has dementia and has been sitting in the bathroom for 30 minutes.

patient 3 is a 57 year old man with esophageal cancer lights up a cigarette in his room (when dr.'s order states no smoking post op)

patient 4 is a 17 year old male complaining of vomiting and abdominal pain

As a nurse what patient should you see first?

*this isnt a real question but a good example of one. i think there we like 5 or 6 of these out of 15. I scored an 810. All of the answers are correct on the critical thinking but you receive more points for the most logical answers you choose.

Honestly do not sweat the HESI. Its not worth it. I was nervous for weeks about taking the test but half way through it i got bored because the questions were so easy. you'll do just fine :)

Wow, we are on the same page regarding the HESI. The review material seemed basic to be. I am ready for the test. I have reviewed the material and wanted to take the test at the end of last month but did not want to ne unprepared. I don't have to take the science sections for the school I am attending so it should be a breeze. I hope I don't get bored:zzzzz.
