Hesi A2 inquiries

Published

Hi friends,

I am currently studying for the HESI A2 entrance exam: Math, A&P, Reading Comp, and Critical Thinking. I have several questions regarding this exam that I have not been able to discern for myself so if you have any feedback, I would greatly appreciate it.

1) Realistically speaking, how long should one prepare for this exam?

2) What is the format for each section: i.e., time per section, number of questions, nature of questions (multiple choice, short answer).

3) Are we allowed to use calculators for the math section?

4) Is there a specific HESI study guide that contains a section for critical thinking? I can't seem to find anything on this section.

If you can answer any, if not all, of these questions it would be of great help to me.

Thank you for your time and support.

I just took the HESI A2 on Monday.

1)I studied for this exam for 3 months. Some of my friends winged it, but regretted it while others studied longer than me. If you're studying and find you're not stumped when facing any of the questions in the HESI A2 study guide by Elsevier then don't worry.

2) I took Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar and Chemistry. Math and reading comprehension were 55 questions each. Chemistry was 30 so I will guess A&P will be around that number.

3)There is an online calculator on the test.

4)I did not have to take critical thinking so I am unable to help you with this section.

How did you feel about the vocab section? Were the words pretty easy to figure out. Thank You.

Vocabulary was hit or miss. Very few words on the test were in the study guide. Most of the words were easy but there were a few hard ones. I heard it differs for every test. Just review all the vocab from multiple hesi test books.
