HESI A2 ENTRANCE exam experience. I took the test twice. The first time I took the test I had less than 80% in grammar although my overall score was 83% I still had to retake it.My program requires that Math,Grammar, Vocabulary knowledge, and Reading comprehension must be passed with 80% or higher. The overall score did not matter. If you lacked in one area you had to re take the whole exam. The second time I aced the exam with 90% overall and passed all the sections with 80% and above.
Now let’s get to the Exam!!!
Vocabulary and Knowledge: This section can be tricky. The HESI book version 4 does not have all the words. DO NOT RELY ON THOSE WORDS ONLY. You have to go out of your way and find words on quizlet. In the vocab section you can eliminate two answers quick and then you are left out with two options that are similar to each other or to the definition of the word.

It will be words like this. Please don’t take this section lightly.
Grammar: Grammar is tricky read read read and read the sentence. Most of the questions will ask (which of these sentences is grammatically correct) ( Which of these sentences is grammatically incorrect). The test will give you two answers that you can eliminate quickly because the mistake will be obvious and you are left to choose between two close answers.
This quizlet literally has questions from the exam.

Reading comprehension
Personally this section was a breeze for me. They will give you a paragraph to read and follow it with three or four questions about the paragraph. Read and focus and you should be alright in this section. Questions such as “what is the author trying to imply” or “which statement is a fact/opinion”.
This section will be difficult for students who do not speak or read English well.
Math: This section of the exam was to my surprise the easiest section. I disliked math a lot but the HESI admission assessment book ad math dude helped me breeze through this section.
Add, multiply, subtract, divide fractions.
Convert fractions to decimal.
Decimal to fraction.
Military time to regular time.
RATIOS RATIOS RATIOS: extremely easy and make up a lot of questions in the exam.
Really simple story problems.
CONVERSIONS: know the metric system conversions and the English system conversions.
A box of helpful information will be on the last pages of the math section on the HESI admission assessment book 4th edition. MEMORIES that information.
1foot=12 inches
1 yard=3feet
And so forth
