Herzing University - Nursing Orientation

Good Morning!

I just wanted to follow up with my experience thus far at Herzing University. Before my core classes start in January, I am required to take Computer Literacy, Medical Terminology, Professional Development, and Focused Tutorial. Professional Development and Focused Tutorial are courses focused to aid students beyond their academic career. It covers topics on time management, school resources, APA formatting (heavily) and more! Unlike any other university I have attended, these courses are mandatory.

This past Friday, I attended Launch Your Career Day. This event is geared towards getting students prepared for Nursing core classes. We were able to meet faculty and staff, get fitted for our uniforms, turn in any pertinent clinical forms, and meet other nursing students in our cohort. What I was so impressed by is the fact that Herzing University has a zero tolerance policy for unprofessional behavior such as tardiness and excessive absence. Although I found myself getting anxious as staff members emphasized how rigorous and accelerated the program is, I constantly remind myself that this is my dream and Herzing is providing all the resources I need to be successful. Not only does our tuition cover instruction from qualified nurse educators, but they also include our uniforms and textbooks, which we can access at anytime if we elect to use Ebooks. To close the event, we took an assessment test which had a similar set up as the NCLEX. This assessment allowed us to see where our strongest and weakest areas were. After attending Launch Your Career Day, I am now even more excited than when I found out that I was accepted. All of my fellow classmates are just as eager and motivated as I am and I hope to see all 88 Nursing Students receive our pins in the next 14 months.

My classes will end at the end of this month. In the meantime, I plan on relaxing as much as I can as well as spending time with family and friends. Please feel free to leave me a comment if you have any questions!!
