Henderson, NC/Maria Parham Hospital

Published

Hi,

I'm considering a move to Henderson to work at Maria Parham Hospital. What is this area like? My husband and I are not into great nightlife, just a safe neighborhood and decent, reasonably priced housing. We do like the outdoors.

Has anyone ever worked at Maria Parham Hospital? What is it like?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I don't work at Maria Parham, but Henderson is a nice town. I was born and raised there. I lived there until I remarried 4 years ago and moved to Sanford. It's close enough to Raleigh, Durham, or Chapel Hill for entertainment.

Maria Parham has been around a long time. I was actually born there. They have remodeled and added on. I have visited family members there and the hospital looks good. But I don't know how it is to work there. If you don't like it you could always try the bigger cities around the area and work at Duke, UNC, or Wake Med.

It's not perfect by no means, but some great areas to live in and afforadable. And Kerr Lake is GREAT, when we are not under a drought.

I hope that helps. My goal is to go home one day. Hopefully one day we'll move back.

regglyn, thanks a bunch for you response. That is just what I wanted to know about Henderson.

hey Lost: I have worked there off and on for years, and I have loved it...in addition the new building is terrific. Henderson is not the greatest, but close to wherever you would want to go. Oxford is a nice little town ....but I work with nurses who come from Raleigh or Durham to work at our little hospital....it's just a great place to work.

Thanks, innocence8!

I worked there for a while, and it is okay. Not good, not bad, just okay. Nice people, but not the most up to date place (nursing wise). Nice people. As for the city, nothing against it, but don't think I would live there. (I've been around long enough to know you can figure out what you need to know about a city by their Wal Mart - you'll figure it out.) Oxford not a bad idea but would lean more toward Wake Forest if it were me.

Thanks a bunch!
