Okay. I am approaching my 1 year as an RN really soon in July. I am relocating to California. My issue is, it's not as easy as people make it seem "once you have experience."

I need to have something secured before I move in August and I've been applying like crazy.

Why is it so hard to get a job as a nurse when you're in a different state?

Has anyone moved recently and has tips for relocating and securing a job?

Is there another approach I should be using?

Please HELP! I am stressing out like crazy.

First off, I feel your pain!!! I just moved to Northern CA and depending where you want to work the job market is tough out here! Do you have a CA RN license yet? They are big on that. Do you have BLS, ACLS and/or PALS? Even if the job you are looking for does not require those, it looks really good on a resume. How have you been applying? You have till August so it's amazing that you started looking now! Good Luck

I am hoping to move to California next year once I obtain my BSN. After my ADN I moved from North Dakota to Texas. I didn't receive any calls about my resume until I placed a Texas address on my resume. I was lucky that I have some family in Texas that allowed me to do that. I did not have a Texas RN license at the time, but ND and TX are compact states. I have heard that it takes a bit to get the CA license so I am going to apply for that like 6 months before I move. I will also start applying early like you are. Where are you applying? I hope you have some good luck.
