I'm an RN who has just passed my state boards to become a certified PMHNP. While seeking employment I see that a lot of health care business use ORCHARDS for their background check purposes. I have some concerns regarding this, related to my time spent at New Friends of Coos Bay as their DON.
This time in my nursing career was honestly a nightmare and I had no direction from the company I worked for. I really didn't understand what was going on and I tried to navigate my way through this by myself while still working and going to school fulltime.
Prior to these events after being a nurse for 13 years, (now 15), I had never been written up, terminated, or had my nursing assessments, charting, or judgement questioned, and haven't since. This was a humbling experience for me and I do take responsibility for my actions, however there were more players involved in these matters than just myself. I contacted several attorney's throughout the state of Oregon during this time, and no one would take on APS, all I heard was "that's a big vessel to take on."
Since these events took place I have had my background check ran several times by the following organizations: OSBN, Gonzaga University, South Coast Hospice, and Advanced Health, (there may be more but I know of these for sure), and nothing came up.
Can anyone give me some direction possibly regarding how long these "charges" are to stay on my record and if expungement is even possible. I appreciate any information that you may have.
