Hello everyone,

I'm a nursing student in my 3rd semester right now and my third test is coming up and it is on the following topics: CABG, Pacemakers, Cardiomyopathy, Mitral/Aortic Stenosis & Regurg, Swanz-Ganz Cath, Congenital Heart Disease, Pulmonary Embolism, Cystic Fibrosis, COPD, Emphysema, Bronchitis, Asthma, Lung Cancer, and MOOD Disorders (bipolar, mania, depression). This includes the pharm on all of this too. The test has only 50 questions and the material is SOOOO MUCH as any nursing would know. Please any important information related to any of this that you think would help, would be greatly appreciated. I learn by others knowledge!!! My teachers have not been great with this material. Also, there are 3 multiple multiple and I have know idea what they could be because there is so much important information! I know 1 will come from the Cardiac material, 1 from the Respiratory, and 1 from the Mood disorder material... I am alittle nervous, but have studied my butt off! I just seem to get alot of the cardio stuff confused...

My second issue is I'm stuck with 2-3 questions I have on this practice test. I want to know what you guys think and please explain why (rationale). Thank you all.

1. The client is a 64 yr old man with small cell lung cancer being cared for in the home. Which of the following nursing diagnoses has the highest priority for the home care nurse in caring for this client?

A. Altered nutrition r/t fatigue and increased metabolism.

B. Constipation r/t decreased activity and medication regime.

C. Depression r/t to dyspnea and fatigue.

D. Pain r/t to metastasis.

I think the answer is A b/c physical symptoms are more important than psychosocial according to maslow. Other people have picked D. What do you all think?

2. The nurse prepares to discharge a patient receiving Coumadin 5 mg orally daily. It is most important for the nurse to include which of the following statements in the discharge teaching? Which two are correct?

1. Youll need to have your blood drawn for a weekly PT/INR weekly.

2. Check with your PCP before taking a vitamin supplement.

3. Eliminate all green vegatables from your diet.

4. You can expect occasional cramping from this medication.

A- 1,2

B- 1,3

C- 2,4

D- 3,4

I think its B (answer 1 & 3),but are you supposed to avoid ALL green veggies? and is INR/PT weekly or monthly? This is hard...

3. Which of the following are common elements of chronic airflow limitation?

A. Respiratory Acidosis

B. Left ventricular hypertrophy and pulmonary hypoinflation

C. Coronary Artery Disease and abnormal gas exchange

D. Elastic Alveoli and Ciliary Dysfunction

I picked A. Some others picked D. Alveoli should be elastic, but hyperinflation is bad, right?

Thank you all for your help!!!!:):)
