Yay, i just pass my exit. Meaning I am ready for the nclex. I am confident that I can pass the nclex first try but I am a bit scare because I know several people that failed the test first try. throughout nursing school I did Saunders questions. Base on my scores I am low on Pharmacology. I always have a hard time on memorizing materials, I have to understand it for it to stick in.
Please give me some advice because all I want is to take the Nclex one time and pass and never have to hear about it again.
I just enrolled on the Kaplan online review. watching the videos. doing some questions. My diagnostic score was very low 49 %. q trainner 51. so I started using this program call lipinkott 10000 question adaptive. so far I am doing 50 questions on Kaplan and 100 on linpinkott. Planning to take my exam by late April 2015
Any tips.

Hey. First of all, Congrats on passing the exit! One stop closer to passing your daunting exam.
I took the Nclex on 1/29 and passed with 96 questions in about an hour (my first try).
I can certainly understand that you are a bit scared since several people you know have failed.
That's how I felt and I can very much relate to you.
It's amazing how one test can make us feel.
Let me begin by saying when you begin studying, turn off Facebook, Instagram, or any social media that you may have. In fact, just avoid any distractions. Just focus on you and the NCLEX.
You did the right thing by enrolling in the Kaplan review. Their Qbanks and Question trainers are excellent for practicing NCLEX-style questions. Make sure you review each rationale and understand them. Also, make sure you know the strategy in answering each question.
Don't worry too much about the scores. As you review content and understand, your scores will eventually go up. NCLEX is a different beast, and you will get questions that are out of nowhere. Totally unexpected. Although knowing the content is important, don't worry too much if you don't get to review all of them. It is IMPOSSIBLE to know everything and besides, for my exam, I think I guessed on at least 80% of the questions.
When I walked out of the exam room, this is what I thought to myself: "Dang, I shouldn't have studied..." Honestly, I don't think I would have done any worse had I not studied at all. The content that I reviewed barely came out on the exam. Now, I keep telling my buddies "Stop studying. It's what you know from nursing school" What you should do is sincerely pray and practice deep breathing exercises haha that's probably the best advice I can offer you. Finally, do NOT panic even if you get over 75 q's. Many people want to finish it off within 75 q's, but it's NOT about how many q's you get; it's about whether you PASS or NOT. Just keep that in mind!
Hope this helps!

Congrats and congrats on passing the NCLEX!!! what did you use to study? describe a typical week or day of studying ? How was your schedule please? Thank you so much for replying to my post. I just turn off my facebook and instagram and I am planning to take a deep breath and cover as much as I can. I am beginning to think that most people fail due to panicking and I am doing all that I can to not panic.
I used Kaplan, Hurst (which I got from my mom as a Xmas present lol), Lacharity PDA, and Lippincott's Alternate Format Q's book.
Well, I studied around 8-10hrs/day for 6 days a week. I did this for 5 weeks, and I thought I was gonna kill myself haha. I resigned from a student nurse position to solely focus on studying for NCLEX, but I was able to survive because of loving support from my family. Give yourself a break. I usually studied for around 2 hours, and gave myself about 20-30min break in between. I usually took a nap for my break, which helped refresh my brain. And then... at the end of the day, I watched a movie before I went to bed.
Yea, do not panic. If you went to a good Nursing School and was able to maintain decent grades, then you will most likely pass the exam.
Lastly, I want to advise you to NOT study at all the day before the exam. I know that may be hard, but I assure you that your brain will thank you for giving it a break.
Put aside your NCLEX books or whatever and enjoy whatever it is that you like to do. That is the best thing I did for myself the day before the exam.
