Help with a paper

Compose a 2-3 page paper (APA Format) paper describing your philosophy of leadership. You should integrate the nursing philosophy of leadership. You should integrate the nursing theory(ies) upon which you base your nursing practice and the philosophy. Describe your philosophy and the process/rationale for your selection.

Can someone help me with some ides with starting this paper--because I am having writer's block right now...

    That being said...I think there are better ways to get the info you need than asking for it on allnurses.com. I've only been out of school a few years and can't even begin to think of a philosophy of nursing leadership.

    Try a google search for the phrase is my best advice.

    1. Start with a blank piece of paper. Be prepared to waste 2 or 3 sheets of paper as you sketch out some ideas. Seriously. I am not being a smart alek here: I am trying to help you get started.

    2. Jot down some ideas you have about leaders. Make a list of things a leader should be and/or do. I assume you have some sort of textbook, course syllabus, etc. that contains something about leadership that you could read to help you start thinking about leadership. Just jot the ideas down without censoring them.

    3. What theoy/theories do you find yourself using the most in your practice? If your school is asking this question in this way, I assume you have taken a theory course at some point and/or have some references you could use to refresh your mind about theory. What do you use? What do you believe in? etc. Again, just jot down ideas.

    4. Start to connect the 2 lists -- either with lines or words. Search for some possible connections or links between your two sets of jotted down notes or lists. It's in those connections that your paper lies.

    So ... gather and summarize your thoughts on leadership. Gather and summarize the theoretical/philosophical foundation of your practice. Seek to connect and integrate the two.
