HELP! Online Graduate courses prior to starting CNRA school

Published

Starting my CRNA program in the Fall of 2018, and luckily my program allows transfer credits for some graduate level courses. I am hoping to knock some out of the way prior to the summer to lighten the load a bit. I am looking for 3 credit "Role of the APRN," "Health Care Systems" "Advanced Health Assessment" or "Epidemiology" offered online to non matriculated students.

I've done quite a bit of research and have made a ton of phone calls to come up empty handed for something that fits the bill. Please if anyone has any info on where to take online courses (8 weeks or less) any feedback would be helpful!

Cheers

I'm not aware of any place that you can take those courses online as a non-degree student, but wanted to add a word of caution that many graduate programs will only accept transfer credits if they were earned PRIOR to your acceptance into that program. If that does not apply, I'd suggest contacting your program and asking where previous students have taken these courses.

Thanks for the reply! I should have mentioned that... this has all been cleared by the university and current students have done it. The only suggestion is not to take the advanced nursing courses such as patho and pharm. Otherwise the only requirement it's having the course approved by the schools administrator before enrolling... additionally I have spoken with the past students and received a recommendation for the summer. But I am here asking for help to find courses for sooner (while my place of work will pay for it  )

Hi Shanimal, I was wondering if I could email you privately about CRNA school/tips?! Unfortunately the system on allnurses won't let me private message you since I'm pretty new to the website... thanks!

Hey there! I'm happy to offer whatever assistance I can but am hesitant to openly post my email address on this site. Members here can send private messages after making 15 posts and it looks like you only have 5 more to go. Do that and shoot me a PM!

hi. i just passed NCLEX-RN and i'm planning to take graduate nursing courses in preparation for CRNA school. are there any requirements prior to enrolling for graduate nursing courses? do i need to have hospital experience first?

khalStorm,

While being proactive is a very good thing, my advice is to hold off before you start taking graduate level courses since you just boarded. Take some time to focus on your new position, especially if you're new to the ICU. It can be information overload and piling graduate level courses on top may overwhelm you. Just my two cents. Good luck.
