I am having a hard time figuring these out....please help.
1. Nipride 3mgc/kg/min has been ordered for a 192 lbs pt. The solution has a strengh of 50 mg Nipride in 250 mL D5W. What should you set the flow rate (ml/hr)?
2. Levophed 2-4 mcg/min has been ordered to maintain systolic BP>100mm. The solution being titrated has 8mg Levophed in 250 mL D5W. Calculate the flow rate for the 2 mcg/min and for 4mcg/min. Also the BP has stabilized at 5 mL/hr. How many mc/min is the pt. receiving. Calculate the mcg/min
3. Infuse Lidocaine 2 grams in 500 mL d5W at 60ml per hour. Titrate at 4mg per minure to control PVC's. Maximum safe dose is 600mg per hour. What is the titration rate in gtts per minute? What is the maximum safe dose rate in ml per hour? What is the titration rate in ml/hr? What is the titration factor in concentrate per gtt? What is the base rate in gtt per minute.

What should you set the flow rate (ml/hr)?Dimensional analysis: ml/hr = 250ml/50mg x 1mg/1000mcg x 3mcg/kg/min x 192lb x 1 kg/2.2lb x 60min/1hr You should be able to cross out all the units except for the ml and hr when you are done. Then its calculator math.2. How many mc/min is the pt. receiving. Calculate the mcg/minFlow rate: ml/hr = 250ml/8mg x 1mg/1000mcg x 2mcg/1min x 60min/1hr (double it for 4mcg/min) mcg/min = 5ml/hr x 8mg/250ml x 1000mcg/1mg x 1hr/60min I havent worked out the math on either one, this is just setting up the problem, its late and I'm heading to bed..3. Dimensional analysis:
ml/hr = 250ml/50mg x 1mg/1000mcg x 3mcg/kg/min x 192lb x 1 kg/2.2lb x 60min/1hr
You should be able to cross out all the units except for the ml and hr when you are done. Then its calculator math.
Flow rate: ml/hr = 250ml/8mg x 1mg/1000mcg x 2mcg/1min x 60min/1hr (double it for 4mcg/min)
mcg/min = 5ml/hr x 8mg/250ml x 1000mcg/1mg x 1hr/60min
I havent worked out the math on either one, this is just setting up the problem, its late and I'm heading to bed..
The last one you can try...
Thank you!
