Help! LMU Blount County Nursing Program

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

I need help if possible. I will be starting the nursing program at the Blount County LMU on Aug 19. My problem is, I only found this out yesterday, August 1, and they don't have time to get an acceptance packet to me before registration on Monday, August 4. I don't want to go into orientation/registration completely blind so I am hoping there is someone on here who can share the vital info from the acceptance packet with me. I don't even have the information on the material that I have to read by the start of class in two weeks. Help!!!

Hi there. I am going to the St.Mary's site, but I am sure we all got the same letter. Here is what you need.

Chapters 1-10 completed by the start of class, in Med-Math, Dosage Calculation, Preparation and Administration; Fifth Edition by Susan Bucholz ISBN:0-7817-6264-2 published by Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins. Study only the ratio and proportion methos discussed inthe text book. It says DO NOT utilize the othe rmethods presented when calculating dosages. You will be expected to know and to utilize the ratio and proportion method during the program.

It says you MUST attend the orientation, and if you miss it, you will lose your spot in the program. You must complete the medical profile form (which was included with my packet) and bring it to oreientation. {However, I don't see how they expect you to have this done- your oreientation is on Monday}- but, it is a physical, drug test, TB skin test and immunization history.

I hope this helps you, and I hope they cut you some slack. Why did they wait so long to let you know?

Anywho..good luck!!

Thanks so much FutureNurse!! Everything happened so fast and the spot in the Fall class opened up on Friday, thus the last minute prep that Iam attempting. Where did they suggest that everyone get the Med Math book?

Your welcome!

You can get it at their bookstore in Harrogate. I ordered mine off of Amazon- but I don't think you have that much time. You could pay extra and have it overnighted maybe.

Thank you!!! I found one in West Knoxville so I'm going to head out there. Their main campus is two hours away so I figure paying full price for a new one versus driving to the campus or paying to have one overnighted will be okay. Thanks!!!
