Help Getting L&D Job

Hi all, I’ve been a nurse for 5 years now, and am looking to get into L&D in the Chicagoland area. That’s been my dream job prior to nursing school but didn’t pursue it right away as I wanted to have a strong establish set of skills. I’ve done tele, neuro, psych, and PACU. I’m now applying daily to any job opening in L&D I see and most either require 1-2 years of previous L&D experience or the few new grad positions I see I don’t qualify for because I’m not a new grad. At this point I’m losing all hope because I’m getting rejection letters within just a few hours of applying. Any suggestions for how I can get into this field?
