Help! GA license by endorsement with non immigrant visa

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello,

I am currently holding a non-immigrant H4 visa, and will go to gradate school in spring semester. I was licensed in Arizona and need to have Georgia's license. My question is on the application form, It says "If you are not a citizen, you must have a qualified alien status under Federal Immigration Act." And my visa type is not listed under the form and the Immigration Act since I am a non immigrant. Does anyone know anything about it? Am I eligible to apply? I would really appreciate your information. Thank you very much.

Since you are in the US under H-4 visa category, that means your spouse or parent is the main beneficiary of a work visa (specifically, H-1B). Now, what form are you referring to -- an application form for licensing or for the school? In any case, you can write next to that item: "H4 -- dependent of an H-1B visa holder, with pending H-1B visa application". But you can add only the last 5 words on the assumption that you have a pending H-1B visa application. Take note that this part is tricky if you are applying for a license, since doing so means that you intend to work. But H4 visa does not qualify you to work. I suggest that you seek advice from a lawyer.

i have the same problems. i would like to apply graduate school in ga, but i need my ga license first. after i checked "the information sheet for licensure by endorsement ," i've felt lost because i do not know how to fill out the form to determine my alien status. http://sos.georgia.gov/acrobat/plb/31%20qualified%20alien%20status%20form.pdf . i hold j-2 visa since i am a spouse of a visiting scholar who studies in a phd program. i have searched the internet and e-mailed to the uscis, but i did not get any specific answer. my visa type also is not listed under that form. what do i do with this situation?

hello everyone,

To both K. Y. EH and Mao, your best bet for answers to these questions would be to sit down with your respective school DSOs at your school's offices of international programs. If these individuals are competent they should be able to guide you through the application and transition processes. OR you could always also call the respective States' Board of Nursing or the Schools you are applying to and ask their DSOs these questions directly.

Good Luck.

Hi czoggyie, thanks for your response. I got the reply from the Professional Licensing Boards. They said"When completing your application for licensure by endorsement, please submit copies of your qualified alien documents. This information will be verified with SAVE. You may omit the form in question and simply submit copies of the actual documents." I think I got THE answer, I will try...
