Help with essay questions. . .

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

All right, I am currently an undergraduate at the UW (University of Washington) who is trying to get into their nursing school this year. The application was just posted online today and one of the essay questions is this:

What experiences with ethnic and cultural diversity have influenced your future practice as a nurse?

I don't even know where to begin with this question. I know that there's TONS to be said about this (especially concerning diversity and how important it is), but that's THE thing: what should I talk about? Health disparities among the minority? Filial piety? I'm kind of at a loss here.

Any suggestions, anyone? I'm trying my best to do well on these essays; I just really don't want to mess it up. If I don't get into nursing school this year. . . I don't know what I'm going to do. =[

Thanks in advance!

Also, I'm curious (since we're already at essay questions), what was something important that you learned about yourself in context of your health care experience, pre-nursing? That's the other question here. Pretty much just describe what kind of situation you went through and how you found it challenging, etc. and how it helped you grow or made you 'realize' that you wanted to be a nurse.

Mine is kind of lame.

Anyone care to share?
