HELP! ECU CRNA

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

I really want to go to ECU for CRNA school, but it's insanely competitive. People who got in, what are their stats?

I was wondering if I remotely stood a chance with my stats and whether I should even bother? It boggles my mind that around 400 apply, 100 interview, and only 12 people get in. I can't imagine myself ever being 1 of those 12 people. I'm just honestly not that outstanding like I know you have to be. I'm pretty average - but a hard worker.

I went to a top public university in the nation, and the science classes were extremely difficult. Will ECU take that into consideration at all? I got anywhere from a B to a C- in all my undergraduate prerequisite science courses. I actually got a D+ in microbiology (I know, I'm horrified, still can't believe that happened). The classes were hard yes, but I also just did not study or care much in undergrad because I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. When I wanted to get into nursing school, I retook all these courses at another institution and got A's. I worked really hard my junior and senior year to pull my GPA up (got mostly A's and some B's). I have a cumulative GPA of 3.3, nursing GPA of 3.5. I am awful at math, so I am pretty sure I won't do well on the GRE with that regard, not sure if I'll even make the minimum 300 score. But I almost made a perfect score on the reading/writing portion of the SAT, so I'm pretty confident I'll do well on the verbal portion of the GRE. I am guessing they put more weight on the quantitative portion though for CRNA school? So even if I meet the 300 minimum, it might be mostly from my verbal score with a terrible quantitative score. I do not have the CCRN yet, but plan to have that before I apply. I have been working at a large university teaching hospital for 2 years now in the CVICU where I am a charge nurse and precept nurses. ACLS of course.

My question - based on the above do you think I stand a chance of getting in? I am also horrendous at interviews and am pretty sure they will be unimpressed with me (if I even get an interview)...

Also, do you have a higher chance of getting in if you apply earlier? The application is due May 31st, but I still have to take the GRE and CRRN and do the application/get recommendations - I feel that that's too last minute (will have to do all this in about 6 months). Don't they start interviewing in May?

Your input is much appreciated!

I am also out of state, but have family in Greenville. I don't know if it is harder to get in out of state.
