Help me decide

Published

Hi friends! I am a university student who has changed majors several times. Throughout high school I wanted to be either a nurse, social worker or teacher. Whatever my job title was I know I wanted to help people.

Right now I am considering doing an LPN or ASN. Can someone in the field walk me through what their day looks like? If you're an LPN or RN please clarify which.

I am just confused on whether I would like nursing. Thanks in advance!

Hi brynneanne. I'am currently a cna and Lpn student finishing my last two weeks of school. Although I may not have a lot of experience in the clinical setting, hopefully I'll be able to help you make a decision. I believe that if your not sure if you like something, why not try it? Before entering the Lpn program, I wasn't sure if it was for me. Since entering, I found my career. So if your not sure about becoming an RN, why not try the Lpn program first? Lpn's play an important role in patient care. As an Lpn, you will be able to complete many tasks the RN can perform. Also, the Lpn program is much shorter then the ASN degree. So if you come to like the nursing profession, you will have much more experience dealing with patients and answering nclex based questions seen in an RN program. If you chose to not enter the profession, then you didn't waste time going through a lengthy RN program. This is just my personal opinion, and just remember that you will ultimately make the best decision about your future. Good luck!
