Help with Admission Process/Washburn (KS)

Published

Hello everybody,

I`m new here. Let me start by saying how much this forum has helped me in the process of discovering the path of becoming a nurse. I literally read EVERYDAY in here:)))) Thank you!!

So here is my situation: I`m taking my pre-reqs right now. Once this semester is over, I`ll have 31 credit hours of prerequisites for Washburn (KS) finished. That`s the minimum for an applicant to have, when applying for fall 2014. I`ll start with science classes in January and take the rest of my pre-req load until the end of July. I`ll just make it in time for Fall semester.

So I called the admissions office today, with some random questions. Among them, I wanted to know how are my finished classes weight since I won`t have all of my pre-reqs finished by the time they will make their decision. All they will see is that I have about half of the pre-req classwork done with a 3.8 GPA. The admission lady just responded that I won`t have enough courses done by the time they will look at it. I don`t understand it. I told her that the website says that I only need a minimum of 30 hours to be an eligible applicant with a GPA of 2.7 or higher. I feel very discouraged right now. I`m working really hard to improve my GPA, on top of that I`m taking my classes in 6-week terms so it`s very fast past. I feel like she didn`t understand me and was even rushing me off the phone... If I don`t get in the fall semester I would have to wait for spring...I apologize if my writing is a bit confusing, but English isn`t my first language.

Does anybody understand my problem? If it helps any, the classes that I`ll have finished by the end of this semester are: Eng Comp I, Gen Psych, Sociology, Abnormal Psych, Developmental Psych, College Algebra, Statistics, Ethics, and 2 free elective classes (Economics and Computer Concepts).
