I was going to get my Masters in Library Science, but this virus has shown me that as far as money is concerned working in the humanities is not wise.
So health field it is.
I'm interested in an AA for this career, but I have some questions. I will be taking the courses at a CAHIIM accredited community college for the fall semester.
1. I already have a BA degree(not in a health field) so should I just take the Certs(Coding and Cancer) or should I take the AA, and just take the certs later if I want to?
2.Do I have to be fantastic in math for this field? Note: I'm bad in it. I hate it actually, but CAN do it if I push myself.
3. How hard or easy are the courses compared to LPN?
I was in Licensed Practical Nursing program many years ago, but dropped out because I prefer behind the scenes patient care.
Which bring me to my next question?
4. I'm an introvert(INTJ) how will this career fit a quieter personality like mine?
5.Is this degree, without the certs, just a gloried secretary?
Or even a gloried librarian, but just for the medical field?
I'm very okay with that being the case, but just wondering.
6. What other fields can I use a degree like Health Information Management?
7. Realistically how is the job market for a degree like this WITH the certs and WITHOUT?
Looking around the net this school kept coming in 1st and 3rd for this degree.

I seems that I can get an Associate in Applied Science for Health Information Management, but when comparing the courses, for it and the CERTIFICATES for Medical Coding and Cancer Registry, it seems like I should just skip the degree and go right to the certificates if that's allowed?
It takes out what looks like fluff with the Health Management degree.
Doing my research it seems the certs are more important anyway. Or is it?
Thanks ?
