health fair

Published

I am currently a Rn in a BSN program. I am taking Community Health and my project is to do a health fair. I am holding the fair at my church as part of our Parish nurse ministry. I am hoping that you guys might have some ideas about how to get donations money, supplies, door prizes and also how to get volunteers. I have gotten alot of info about different topics from the web but if you have any ideas about specific booths to have and also ways to make them fun and informative. I would appreciate anything you can offer.

Thanks,

Rachel

I would say start with your local health dept to see if they have literature, posters, prizes, etc that you can give away. That's probably the best place to start since they will have an idea of what the needs of your community are. Maybe you can find volunteers at your church?

from experience with health fairs, I've noticed the best way to get fair-goers interested/involved is to have free "prizes" available--even if it's just condoms or magnets or something along those lines.. people love free stuff. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice I am going to call them today.

Hi.

I work for San Diego County and we have a shortage of Public Health Nurses. We will be doing some job fairs soon, and also making brochures. I would love to hear all of your ideas for recruiting RN's who want to be in Public Health.

Because we are the County, our salaries are not as high as the hospitals, but, as I am sure you know, the needs are great for folks with low or no income.

Public Health not only provides services, but also does so much community outreach and education.

Any tips to recrut RN's who aren't in it for the money, but for their soul?

Thanks.

Harry
