Just did a 4 month stint in Hawaii on Oahu @ Queens Medical Center. Some things you should know if your going. Culturally it is very different than anywhere in the mainland. Traffic on Oahu sucks, I turned my rental car in and bought a bike at walmart. Parking is a real issue there even at the hospitals (expensive).

Housing is very expensive unless you can find something outside of Waikiki area. If you don't need much you can find some deals on graigslist. That is if you want to go it on your own. One of the first things you should do when you get there is get yourself a state ID. You get alot of discounts on alot of things for being a local (Kamaaina) is the Hawaiian word for this. Make sure you have an address and a work ID before you go to get your state ID. Do the first part of the application process online, so you don't have to wait in line when you get there.
