Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hey everyone, brand new here...looking forward learning and chatting with everyone!

I do require a little guidance though, and wanted to see what everyone had to say. I'm on (what I hope is) the tail end of completing all the prerequisites for entry to a BSN program, and all sorts of questions are springing up. I have completed:

anatomy

microbiology (online at APU)

As for the rest, I am currently enrolled in a physiology course, planning on knocking out chemistry over the summer, and Azusa Pacific has recently not required prospective students to complete organic chemistry as a prerequisite. ALL my other GE stuff is done, including Growth and Development. Assuming I get into Azusa Pacific, I'm more than halfway done with these final couple courses, who are okay with the online lab course thing.

My issue is, as I don't want to limit myself to JUST applying to APU, naturally I will apply to other schools too, but as I found out (too late, as I have done this all by myself and with very little guidance from anyone, friends, colleagues, etc) some schools don't like the online lab course thing. Ironically, I got a B+ in it. So what if I end up needing to apply to schools that don't accept online lab courses? I guess that means I will need to take microbiology again, but in that case, there is the potential that the 5-year window of time that is allowed to pass between completing a lab science and being seated in a BSN program somewhere will have been up, and my anatomy credits will expire.

The obvious answer is, well, just retake that too. And in the ultimate worst case scenario, I will. Come hell or high water I will finish this and become an RN. I made myself that promise a long time ago. but I guess what i'm really asking is: Does anyone happen to know which (if any) BSN programs accept online lab courses?

Background info: upon finding out that some schools might not like online lab sciences, I made it a point to take physiology in an actual classroom (right now this semester--started already), and do the same with chemistry this summer. Anatomy was done Fall of 2013 (finished it December 2013), and just hope to God that APU, who accepts online labs, will accept me to their program.

But as I obviously don't want to apply to just one school, I need to look at other schools, and consider that I may need to apply to a school that doesn't take online labs. Which I will do if I have to, but i'd rather focus on schools that do, for now, because if I have to spend a whole new semester on Microbio, there's a chance that my anatomy credits will have expired by then. By getting into a program that accepts online labs, 1) I wont have to repeat microbio and 2) my anatomy credits wont expire before I get into a program

So, the real question (I guess) is, does anyone know which BSN programs will accept online labs? (it would only be microbio, but still) I only did APU to finish up the remainder of my GE, but found out about the online lab courses a bit too late. After microbio online, I made it a point to intend to complete the rest of my sciences in a classroom.

I have spent many hours, days, months and more tears and sleepless nights than I can count on worrying about this. My only real optimal way out will be to be to get into a school that accepts online lab courses, but does anyone know of any?

Any help you have, any insight you have, any light anyone can shed on this mess would be more appreciated than you know. I don't mean to be dramatic, but this is a source of a lot of anguish and anxiety for me. I'm already 33 years old and sometimes i feel like this will never be finished, that i will never get my BSN and this point.

thank you for reading all of this if you made it this far, and thank you in advance for your help.
