Having a hard time finding a CNA job

Published

Hi everyone, I am nineteen years old and want to pursue a career in nursing. I have just been certified as a CNA by the state of Florida in August. I have been applying everywhere in Miami and have had no luck due to my lack of experience :banghead:. I am hoping to start on my pre reqs for an ASN program at MDC, but It looks like I'm going to have a hard time paying for college because I have no job . I was wondering if any of you had any tips for me on getting a CNA job with no experience, specially here in Miami where there are so many experienced CNAs. Thanks

I live in Miami as well. My best advice, if you can stand the commute, is to look for work in Broward County, as far north as Fort Lauderdale or Boca if you can. Miami is a sucky place to find a job as a CNA...remember we have a heavy immigrant population here and one of the first things many immigrants do when they get here is become CNA's. (that's not a slur my mother is an immigrant and her first job when she came here 30 years ago was a CNA).
